Designing a Curriculum for Nursing Practice Readiness - Participating in revising a nursing curriculum is one of the eight Academic Nurse Educator competencies. The topics in this session that will help prepare educators develop this competency include essential components of a curriculum, integration of contemporary content topics, syllabi development, and program evaluation.

Facilitating Didactic Learning for Diverse Students - Nurse educators are responsible for facilitating learning for diverse students. The topics in this session that will help faculty learn how to facilitate learning and socialization into the nursing role include: teaching vs. learning, student-centered learning, active learning to develop clinical judgment skills, and mastery learning.

Assessing Didactic Learning for Diverse Students - Test-writing and other learning assessments are often a challenge for both novice and experienced nurse educators. The topics in this session that will help faculty improve their ability to create valid assessments of learning include: formative vs. summative evaluation methods, scholarly papers and projects, writing valid and reliable test items (focus on NCLEX® and NGN), and role of standardized testing.

Facilitating and Assessing Learning in the Clinical Practice Environment - Clinical environments allow students to translate knowledge into practice. This session will help nurse educators better facilitate and assess clinical learning; topics include: selecting clinical learning experiences, trends in clinical skill practice and development, role of manikin and virtual simulation, and clinical performance evaluation.
