Barb Bancroft’s Clinical Topics for Faculty, Nurses and Students: The Science of Weight Loss – Something Old and Everything New
Barb Bancroft, RN, MSN, NP

A Live Virtual Event • 12:50 – 3:45 PM (Central Time)
Recording available for 60 days post-event for CE

Barb will delve into the latest findings on the newest weight loss drugs, semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and tirzepetide (Mounjaro/Zepbound)–the physiology, the pharmacology, the efficacy, and the adverse effects. She will also discuss the “something old”–including the risk/benefit of weight loss surgeries, dietary issues (protein vs carbohydrates), and yes, calories IN and calories OUT. Various weight loss diets will be compared, including counting calories, Weight Watchers, the Keto diet, the modified Atkin’s diet, intermittent fasting, timing of meals, and changing the microbiome with fecal transplants. Barb will also discuss the health benefits of weight loss–on every body system from the heart to the brain to the bones, as well as reducing the risk of diabetes…and if one already has diabetes, the possibility of “diabetes remission.” Join her for this fascinating update on a critical issue in the world of medicine and nursing today.
