Women’s Heath Issues – From Womb to Tomb begins with 5 general myths about women:
- All men are created equal
- Women live longer, so they must be healthier
- Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
- The egg is passive, the sperm is aggressive
- The federal government has studied women as aggressively as it has studied men.
Barb divides the lecture into 3 phases—the prenatal period and gender development, puberty and the emergence of ovarian function, and the peri/postmenopausal phase of ovarian demise.
Many topics are discussed throughout the lecture and include depression, autoimmune diseases, coronary artery disease, cancer in women, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, hormone replacement therapy, and more!
