This recorded webinar series will help nurse educators prepare for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) examination and/or the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE®cl) examination. Participants will have the opportunity to reach out to Dr. Halstead for questions and take practice exam questions.
NOTE: If qualified, a nurse educator may prepare for and take both the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) examination and the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE®cl) examination to obtain both certifications.
Webinar Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Webinar series CNE® Part 1 and Part 2 the attendee will be able to describe how to:
- Facilitate learning by implementing a variety of teaching/learning strategies that support achievement of student learning outcomes.
- Facilitate learner development and socialization by identifying student learning style preferences and unique learning needs based upon individualized student characteristics.
- Use a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies to develop and enforce student admission, progression, and graduation policies and measure student achievement in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains.
- Participate in curriculum design and revision activities and the evaluation of program outcomes to promote continuous quality improvement.
- Engage in scholarship, service, and leadership in the academic environment and pursue quality improvement in the academic nurse educator role.
CNE® Preparation – Individual Webinar Session Descriptions
CNE® Preparation PART 1: The firs 2 webinars focus on preparing for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) examination. Topics for this session include a focus on the CNE® test category areas of Facilitate Learning, Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization, and Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies.
CNE® Preparation PART 2: This webinar is the second in a series of two consecutive sessions that focus on preparing for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) examination. Topics for this session include a focus on the CNE® test category areas of Participate in Curriculum Design and Evaluation of Program Outcomes, Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement in the Academic Nurse Educator Role, Function as a Change Agent and Leader, Engage in Scholarship of Teaching, and Function Effectively within the Institutional Environment and the Academic Community.
Webinar Learning Outcomes – CNE®cl – Part 3 and Part 4
Upon completion of the Webinar series CNE®cl Part 1 and Part 2 the attendee will be able to describe how to:
- Function in the clinical educator role in education and health care environments to meet student learning needs, while adhering to legal and ethical principles and agency guidelines.
- Facilitate learning in the health care environment and the development of clinical reasoning skills through the use of a variety of clinical teaching strategies appropriate to student learning needs and expected learning outcomes.
- Develop effective interpersonal communication skills and collaborative relationships with members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain clinical expertise relevant to one’s specialty, the practice setting, available health care technologies, and the clinical learning environment.
- Facilitate learner development and socialization to the professional role of the nurse.
- Implement effective clinical assessment and evaluation strategies to measure student achievement of expected learning outcomes in the clinical setting.
CNE®cl Preparation – Individual Webinar Session Descriptions
CNE® Preparation PART 3: This webinar is the first of two consecutive sessions that focus on preparing for the Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE®cl) examination. Topics for this session include a focus on the CNE®cl test category areas of Function Within the Education and Health Care Environments, Facilitate Learning in the Health Care Environment, and Demonstrate Effective Interprofessional Communication and Collaborative Interprofessional Relationships.
CNE® Preparation PART 4: This webinar is the second of two consecutive sessions that focus on preparing for the Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE®cl) examination. Topics for this session include a focus on the CNE®cl test category areas of Apply Clinical Expertise in the Health Care Environment, Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization, and Implement Effective Clinical Assessment and Evaluation Strategies.
