The 24th Annual Branson Nurse Educator Institute

April 8 @ 7:30 am - April 10 @ 3:00 pm CDT

For many years, NCSBN has studied the training and retention of new graduate nurses. They and others find the inability of new graduates to adequately transition into practice can have grave consequences including errors contributing to patient harm or death. This conference will provide nurse educators and administrators with valuable information to better prepare nursing students for safely transitioning into practice through the development of clinical judgment skills, connecting theory to clinical practice.

his webinar will describe how to write an evidence-based simulation scenario on the California Simulation Alliance scenario template using a (provided) storyboard technique. The scenario writing process will be reviewed. From there, participants will integrate the AACN essentials into the simulation scenario.

The nursing profession relies on acute clinical judgement skills which are supported by shown based practice and nursing theories. This online seminar explores the use of clinical judgement and reasoning in an interactive environment and provides an opportunity for nurses be immersed into integrative learning strategies.

An object lesson is when you use a physical tool or prop to illustrate a tough to grasp concept. This session offers ideas and examples you can adapt to teach your most difficult concepts. Props can enhance your content in many new ways. These props examples can turn your learners from being "propped up" to completely awake and engaged. Examine the proper use of props, with the dos and don’ts.

Diabetes Tech

Diabetes is at epidemic proportions. Studies show the best way to manage or assist a person with diabetes is with diabetes' technology tools, such as continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps and apps. Let me help you understand how these diabetes tools can be a game changer in the management of diabetes for patients and providers. Nursing students as well as educators and providers will benefit from this information.

This webinar is designed to provide nurse educators with the strategies and tools to develop a standardized approach to test mapping. Emphasis will be placed on applying cognitive code leveling to test items with Blooms Taxonomy, the NCSBN’s CJMM, and the NCLEX-RN blueprint.

Today's learners are diverse consumers. Our job is to engage, teach and mentor those who have different learning styles, different generational expectations and short attention spans. How do you best-teach those with diverse backgrounds and experience levels? We must adapt our teaching methods to the seven expectations of the two youngest generations.

The topics in this session that will help prepare educators develop this competency include essential components of a curriculum, integration of contemporary content topics, syllabi development, and program evaluation.

This session provides a "how–to” approach for developing a concept map as an active teaching/learning tool helping students "put the pieces of the puzzle together.” Development, grading, repetition and barriers will be discussed. Concept Maps will be provided as examples for use for study or examples with teaching. Understanding how concept mapping really works in developing clinical judgment is an eye-opener for many.
